Consistency is Boring

I want you to be bored. 🤷🏼‍♀️

At some point, the daily tasks and habits necessary to reach your goals are probably gonna feel pretty boring. Consistency is boring, but it’s where progress is made.

Constant changes - with your macros / nutrition, training program, daily routines - are just whirlwind. If a coach (of any kind) is promising instant gratification and keeps things “interesting” or keeps you “motivated” by switching things up very regularly with no explicit purpose, proceed with caution.

Doing the same things that work day in and day out IS what works. Long term consistency over short term intensity, always. It’s not that sexy, honestly. You’re probably not going to notice the little positive outcomes of consistency in the short term. This is where some people really struggle with trusting the process and sticking it out to actually see the fruits of their labor. But just because you can’t see or feel day-to-day changes, that doesn’t mean they’re not happening.

It’s kind of a like a long, challenging hike: when you’re in it, it can feel monotonous and like you’re not getting anywhere when you consider the miles and vert left to cover. But if you just keep taking one step at a time, you inevitably get to the big reward at the end. Aaand then you have no choice but to turn around and repeat the exact same steps to hike out. But you choose to do it all over again on the next hike, because the reward at the end of a slog is always worth it!

Dial in your routine: nourish your body with mindful food choices, move with a purpose, encourage quality sleep, drink your agua, challenge yourself physically and mentally. Repeat daily. And when you reach your goal(s) and are looking to maintain that progress? All ya gotta do is keep it boring.
