TESTIMONIAL

“I think nutrition is paramount to living your most powerful, happiest and most authentic life. I’m a career Firefighter/EMT and volunteer mountain rescue rock climber/rope rescue worker. It’s essential that I can accomplish the tasks necessary to help those in the mountains and to serve those in my community. Black Iron Nutrition has not only helped improve my recovery, strength, and performance but, has helped me in preforming my best lifesaving work.”

FROM HER COACH MORGAN

“Megan is an incredibly high-performing firefighter who, in her spare time, is training to climb her first 5.11 trad in Yosemite, does CrossFit, and is in a competitive selection course to be selected for a helicopter rescue team. Her activity levels are extremely high, her energy demand is very demanding, and her work shift (24 hours on/24 hours off) made things feel like we needed to make sure she was eating enough and recovering as fast as possible.

Megan gives 100% of herself to whatever she is involved in. She spends her weekends finding lost hikers who need to be extracted from dangerous wilderness conditions - so it makes sense that she would HAVE to be fully committed to whatever she dips her toe into. However, with nutrition - her body has enjoyed the reward of flexibility. Instead of trying to finely manipulate her weight, we eat more when we're hungry, we don’t sweat missing targets on long work days, and we've pulled back on training as intensely as she once was because her body is showing us that more does not always = more.

Megan's patience for herself and her process are growing - she is considerably more balanced and approaches her training and nutrition with more of an auto-regulation approach versus trying to be perfect. Recently, she was notified that she was being considered for the position of first female crew chief for her local Helicopter Rescue team.”
