At 50 years old and almost 257 lbs, I started feeling the weight of mortality much sooner than I should have. I felt like I was living in a body twice my age. I tired easily, was out of breath doing routine chores, and didn’t handle stress well. I had tried every diet and exercise program imaginable over the years, but staying motivated was always a challenge.
In October 2024, through an acquaintance, I joined 540 Fitness. It was difficult at first, but thanks to a wonderful community of support, I stayed consistent and began to enjoy moving my body in this way—and the benefits that came with it.
By December 2024, I started working with Coach Jess on my nutrition. I was done with gimmicks, cutting out entire food groups, and chasing quick but unsustainable results. I wanted to find emotional balance with food—to still enjoy the foods I loved, but in moderation. Yes, I still wanted to lose weight, but I wanted to do it in a healthy, sustainable way.
Coach Jess has that rare, authentic spirit that truly understands another person’s internal struggles. I learned that food isn’t good or bad—it’s just a combination of macros. I learned the difference between impulsively eating and making an informed decision to enjoy ice cream or pizza on a given day. I learned that my mindset about food can’t be “all or nothing.” I also learned how important it is to fuel my body with enough calories to perform well at the gym.
As of July 2025, I’m about 213 lbs. I still have a long journey ahead, but I’m astounded by what I’ve achieved in the last seven months. More than just weight loss, I’ve gained strength, confidence, and perseverance—things I never would have found without the help of Coach Jess.
For the first time in years, I believe I can actually achieve my goals. I can’t wait to see what the next six months bring with Coach Jess' continued support. She has been a revelation for me.
