For years I had debated signing up with Black Iron Nutrition (I have been following BIN coach Manders for several years), but I was hesitant as I thought Black Iron was CrossFit only. This style of weight training never interested me.

Then I came across a post from Krissy for the 16 week Black Iron Training VERT challenge. I had just had surgery and knew I couldn’t do the challenge at that time. But in the meantime I knew I wanted to focus on my nutrition, or lack thereof, so I signed up and was paired with coach Maggie. A coach I had started following a few months prior. Best decision ever!!

Immediately after getting released from my surgeon I signed up for the VERT program, even though it was more than half way through the challenge. I regularly hike at least 5-10 miles a week. I always struggle with my breathing and become exhausted mid hike and struggle to keep up with the group. With some difficult hikes coming up in Alaska I knew I needed to do something. I can’t say enough about how amazing it is to have Maggie as my nutrition coach and Krissy as my training coach.

I smoked those hikes in Alaska. Four weeks into the program and WOW, what a difference it made for me on those hikes. I waited on others instead of others waiting on me!!

There is a local fire tower that is 2 miles straight up with an amazing sunrise and/or sunset. Six weeks into the program I shaved 20 minutes off my time working with Maggie and Krissy. My best hiking buddy was impressed with how much I improved.

Don’t waste anymore time debating on joining BIN. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made!! Find your program, find your coach and be ready to WOW yourself! VERT is just one of the many programs they have. I also do their cakes and core add on programs.
