Megan was raised in Bainbridge Island, Washington, 30 minutes away from Seattle. She pursued mountain sports at a young age, including backpacking and hiking, canyoneering, rock climbing, and skiing. In high-school and college she played soccer and lacrosse, and ran competitively. Despite her active lifestyle, she struggled with disordered eating habits and body image issues.
After moving across country from California to North Carolina, Megan found CrossFit in 2014 when her husband deployed to Afghanistan. She immediately fell in love with the supportive community and the competitive aspect of the sport; a year later, she earned her CFL1 and began coaching clients in CrossFit and nutrition. Megan and two other athletes qualified an Elite Team at Wodaplooza in November 2017, and she turned to Black Iron Nutrition to boost her performance. After only a few weeks of working with Coach Kelsey, she noticed a huge difference, both in her training and competition numbers, as well as her body composition.
After experiencing her own life-changing results with Black Iron Nutrition, Megan found her passion - empowering others to love themselves, their bodies, and to find freedom with food and exercise. She became Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified, and believes a well-fed athlete is the best and strongest athlete. However, in mid-2018, Megan found out she has Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, and her goals shifted from performance to health. She now has a unique perspective in that she understands clients who seek both athletic performance goals while managing their health issues.
Megan currently lives in Reno, Nevada, where she spends time in the mountains with her husband and her 3-year old Rhodesian Ridgeback.
